May 12, 2008
This is officially the last news post of the 07-08 school year.
To those of you who regularly check the news page, especially Michael
Brown, sorry there haven't been updates since the end of
February. All of the important news since then can be found in
the February, March and April/May emails on the old emails page. News updates this
summer will probably be few and far between, however I will use this
site as a means of posting Jordan's finishes and times in the bigger
meets this summer. Other than that, chorale rehearsals all week,
then two weeks of vacation in Hawaii and New Zealand before another
summer at the Y.

February 26, 2008: Midterm week
I want to start by saying that this
will probably be the last update
until after spring break (sometime around March 9th). With that being
said, the few days since the last update were largely uneventful. The
busiest day was yesterday, with homework during the day and an Oscar
Party at night. Aside from the Oscar party, I was also an Eucharistic
Minister for mass on Sunday night. The other nights were pretty much
filled with homework and working out. This week, I have two midterms to
take before I get to leave for my spring break. I will be leaving
mid-day on Friday and heading straight to Iowa City for the ISI State
Swim meet. After that weekend I'll be home for a full week, so anyone
who wants to stop by and see me, feel free. I'll be sending out that
end of the month e-mail on Friday morning.

February 21, 2008: Quick Update
OK, just a quick update tonight, full
update on Sunday. A couple of the
more major events since last Thursday. First, on Tuesday, I went to
another residential scholars dinner. This time I was at a table with an
engineering professor who was originally from Iowa. Also, during the
dinner I met the provost of the University, which was pretty neat. The
only other major news point from the last week is that yesterday I
signed up to be an athletic manager for the Fightin' Irish. This
semester I will just work a little bit, but in the future there are
some pretty impressive perks, which I will describe more in depth in
the next e-mail.
More on Sunday,

February 14, 2008: Happy Valentines Day!
I'll start with a wrap up of the High School State Swim Meet. The meet
as a whole was great, and it was really different from the years I had
gone as a member of the team. Waiting in line for several hours was not
especially exciting. Once the meet started, we knew it was going to be
a close race for the team placings. The guys from Senior swam really
well, and finished sixth over all. Jordan won both of his races with
all american times. The last race, the 400 free relay, was possibly the
most exciting race I've ever seen. When Jordan dove in for the anchor
leg, Wash and PV were leading by about a body length. By the end of the
race, Jordan wound up getting touched out by PV by .03 secs. Jordan
also earned state athlete of the year. I waited to put up this update
until today because Jordan was also up for the KCRG TV 9 athlete of the
week, and today we learned that he won.
Now for my news. After the meet, the snow was blowing pretty wildly,
and the trip for the annual post-meet meal at Fazoli's in Waterloo was
somewhat nervewracking. We did make it safely, but we decided to stay
in Waterloo for the night. The next morning, I watched a few of Jordan
and Connor's races at the DASH Valentine's Classic, before heading back
to ND in my own car! I did encounter a little blowing snow on my way
here, but nothing like the previous night. Since being back here, I've
pretty much just gone to class and done homework. The one
semi-interesting thing that has happened is that student body elections
were held this week, and voting was fun and got me even more excited
for the upcoming national elections.
Finally I'd like to wish a Happy Valentines Day to anyone who reads
this, and especially to Atalie <3

February 6, 2008: Swimming
Tonight's update comes a few days
before I leave ND to go to the Iowa Boys' High School Swim Meet. I'm
really looking forward to it because the guys from Senior have a good
chance of having their best finish in several years. The last week or
so has gone well; pretty much just going to class and doing homework.
Tonight I'm going to 10 PM mass to get my Ash Wednesday ashes. After
mass, Joe O'Neill, the man who gave the money for O'Neill hall, will be
speaking to us and answering questions. Thats pretty much it, so good
luck RAMS swimmers and have fun.

February 1, 2008: Has it been 12 days
already?
So I am slowly realizing that I seem to
be busier this semester, but not with anything terribly newsworthy.
Since there were only two news posts in January, I'm not going to
archive it. The last twelve days have been pretty full with class and
work and snow, but not much else. This past Tuesday I had dinner with a
Prof. through the University's Residential Scholars program which was
pretty cool. I also started my second semester voice lessons yesterday.
Other than that, not much to talk about. Good luck to the RAMS Men's
Swim Team at districts tomorrow.

January 20, 2008: UGH!
As I write this post, I am still
reeling over the Packer's disappointing loss in the NFC Championship
Game to the Giants. So I guess when I watch the Super Bowl this year I
will once again be as interested in commercials and the half-time show
as I am in the actual game. Moving on to news about me, I had a pretty
normal week of classes following the post on Tuesday. The classes I
haven't yet mentioned are Victorian Britain (a history class), English
Art and Society (an art history class) and Advanced Spanish Grammar and
Writing. They are all going well so far and should be fun. I had a
pretty lazy weekend this weekend as I settled back into the routine of
being at school. It doesn't help that the Australian Open is on in the
middle of the night this week, as I stay up to watch it. Other than
that, no real news out of ND for the past several days. I do want to
mention that I can't guarantee daily updates this semester, but I
promise that I will update the news page at least every Sunday night.
Peace,

January 15, 2008: First Update of the
New Year
TheJes.net makes its triumphant return
after a nearly month-long
hiatus. Sorry to those of you who regularly visit the site. Rather than
reinventing the wheel in this post, I will refer you to the Dec-Jan
e-mail in the old emails page for all
news between December 17 and now. Today, along with marking the return
of updates for this site, also marked the first day of classes here at
ND. I had my psych seminar and my intro to philo classes today, and
both look to be pretty exciting. It has been cold and snowy here since
I got back on Sunday, which is fine by me. Other than that, not much to
report.
Happy to be back
online
