December 17, 2007: Finals so far.

I thought I would use this small amount of free time to update the site for the first time in 6 days. So far, I have taken four of my five finals, and they have all gone well. My last one is on Wednesday morning, and I am not looking forward to it. Thats pretty much it. Happy birthday Dad, but since its so close to Christmas, thats when you'll get your gift.
2 more days,

December 11, 2007: Christmas Dinner :)

Tonight was Christmas dinner in the dining hall. It was delicious, and really the only news-worthy item in the last two days. There was prime rib, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, swordfish, and apple supreme pie. It rained all day today, which was less than enjoyable. Had it been a little bit colder, it would have snowed all day, but it didn't. My final days of classes were yesterday and today, which was nice. Tonight I had a review session for Gov., which was followed by a short reception with the professor. On a similar note, a group of friends and I went to chat with our Theology professor. We spent 2 hours at his office, and it was really neat to just chat with him. Now I've got 2 days before my first final, and I'm looking forward to the slightly easier schedule.
Starting to study,

December 9, 2007: Another Lazy Sunday

Once again, Sunday meant a day that seems to just slip by. I have actually had a relatively unproductive weekend as I head into two days of reviews before finals start on Friday. Last night's dance was fun. It was nice to head accross campus to the Mendoza College of Business and dance in the great hall of the main building. High point of today was watching the Packers spank the Raiders this afternoon. As I write this, I'm watching the Pats/Steelers game hoping the Steelers can pull off the upset.

December 7, 2007: Miss ND

Yesterday's update didn't happen because of one of the biggest events on campus, the Miss ND pageant hosted by the men of O'Neill. It was a lot of fun as the beautiful ladies of Notre Dame vied for this great honor. In the end, with the poise of Miss South Carolina, Miss Howard Hall won the crown. Before the pageant, many of the men of O'Neill had dinner at the South Dining Hall, taking up nearly of quarter of the dining room. Today felt like the last day of classes, even though we still have class until Tuesday. Since everything on Monday and Tuesday is going to be review, I'm not to worried about this feeling of being into study time. We had a pizza party in Section 1A tonight to celebrate our Grace Cup victory, and we watched the women's soccer semi-final between ND and FSU. Unfortunately, the Lady Irish lost, but they played strong like they had all season, and we here in O'Neill are still proud of them. On a happier note, tonight the Freshman Class is throwing a Christmas party at Reckers from 1 AM to 3 AM, which I am going to. Tomorrow night there will probably be no update due to "SnO'Neill" the O'Neill Christmas formal. I'll have a recap of that and of the rest of the weekend on Sunday afternoon or evening.
Wishing you the best,
-Jes

December 5, 2007: Way Over Due Update

Yikes, I just realized that I have fallen way behind on updates. Since Sunday, a number of things have happened. I'll start with Tuesday, because nothing of great importance happened on Monday. On Tuesday morning I got to sign up sor my classes for next semester. I was a little worried that the classes I wanted weren't going to be available, because I had a late registration time, but I actually wound up getting everything I wanted and really good times for everything too. I guess the only real news from Monday was that I had a chorale rehearsal when we started to learn our (somewhat unusual) Christmas music for our concert on next Wednesday. We continued working on that tonight at rehearsal. After rehearsal I went to work, like I do every Wednesday. Pretty run of the mill start to the week with the exception of registration. On a side note, congrats to the RAMS swim team on their blow-out win over Clinton last night.
GO RAMS!

December 2, 2007: Grace Cup Champions

Today was a great day for section 1A of O'Neill Hall. We brought the Grace Cup back to its rightful home. The Grace Cup goes to the winner of the annual football game between O'Neill Hall and Keough Hall, and it is named for Grace Hall, the hall that O'Neill and Keough came from. The teams for the game are determined by games between the sections of each hall. On a cold, wet and muddy afternoon O'Neill section 1A, my home section, pulled out a 5-3 win. The rest of the day was relatively uneventful, and ended with mass as usual.

December 1, 2007: Winter Storm

Today marks the beginning of a new month, which means an e-mail went out this morning. It also means that I started listening to Christmas music on my MP3 player. After working until 4 AM last night, I slept until after 11 this morning. When I finally woke up, I just didn't feel like doing anything before our second performance of "Messiah" tonight. While I was trying to convince myself to actually start moving, I noticed that it was snowing/icing outside, which led to a less than fun walk to the performing arts center in my tux. Tonight's performance actually went even better than last night, and was a great way to end our fall season. After I got back to my room I watched more of the debachle that is college football as the number one and two teams in the nation lost again. At least Hawai'i managed to finish their season undefeated and should be headed to a BCS bowl.
